A brand new “Song Of the Week”

I said I wasn’t going to do Song Fight again for awhile but it’s been really fun (we came in second again with last weeks “In The Tank” – thank you!) and this weeks title gave me all kinds of ideas, none of which I used. Instead, this one just kind of fell out when I started recording.

Finally…
A new “Song Of the Week. I know, I know- wasn’t that over a week? Well yes, it was, so… um, we went to Legoland.
We came in second place with “Everybody Calm Down” in the Song Fight last week. Thank you very much for all the votes – we just keep getting more every time. If you haven’t already, please go over there again and vote for last weeks “In the Tank”. It’s a bit heavier than the usual fare here but many of you have been asking for that.
I was going to skip the Song Fight thing for a little while but this idea got stuck in my head and… here it is:
Shoelace Soup
Mr Branch goes out to the back to dig deep deep down down back through the rack – ‘Cause he could eat the pants and the shirt off his back you know he feels so strange – It may have been a little accidental snack – Instead of something cold he grabbed a coat from the back – And he could eat his pants and the shirt off his back – You know he feels so strange – Chewed up my shoes – How can it be so – It used to be the place my toes would go – How can it be so – I fear the next to go is the rest of my clothes – Oh no – How can it be so – Chew chew chewin’ on the last belt loop – How can it be so – Only thing left is shoelace soup – Mr Branch goes out to the back to

Another “Song Of the Week” and it’s another Song Fight.
And, in case you hadn’t heard… WE WON!!!
The tune “Paper Thin” (that was under my name – not “Grass Stained” (although that one did well too) won the Song Fight for the week. If you haven’t already, please go there and vote for last week’s “Everybody Calm Down“. This one called “In the Tank” should be up there in a few days.
Another important note:
The CD is ready. We’ve just got to get it up here for sale… very soon. Then, we’ll get back to regular business here with some non-Song Fight tunes.

What’s this???
Two Songs with virtually the same title?
Why yes, it is. There’s another Song Fight and I guess I liked the title so much that I did two. If you like either of them go vote for me please. The first one (just called “Paper Thin” above) is listed under the band name “Grass Stained” at Song Fight. The second one (“Thin As Paper Thin”) is listed under my name at Song Fight with the title “Paper Thin” (just like all the others).
And, since there are two in the bag for this week I won’t be posting next week to allow time to finally wrap up the mastering and packaging of the first cd. Thank you!

So this is going to be something different. Andy recommended I try a thing called “Song Fight.” They give a song title every week (this week it’s “Interesting Times”), you post your song up on their site, and then anyone can vote for the best song that week.
So, guess what I want you to do on Thursday…
You know how when you’ve spent the whole day jumping on the bed and the springs start popping out and then those little pillow guys come and fix it with those weird little tools and it ends up being so bouncy that you can’t even lay down on it anymore… you know, right? Well, that’s what this song is about.
And yes, I know it’s been more than a week. And yes, I should probably be posting 2 songs this time. Well we went to Kauai and it was awesome and I got a nose flute from this Hawaiian guy… but that would’ve been too easy.
